Weddings!!! Who doesn't love weddings. Uh.. Well, probably not everyone. But most of us do. It's the one moment of a woman's entire life that she feels she's the most beautiful. And I felt that during my wedding. *wink wink
The second most beautiful sight to behold (first is the bride, of course) is the cake! When I got married to my amazing husband, I did not want a grand cake. During that time, the fuss for cupcake towers as the wedding cake started. So mine was a cupcake tower with a tiny cake on top. I did not start making cakes back then, so I thought the design was okay.
I liked it and still did not regret having that at my wedding. We skipped the cake slicing and just fed each other with cupcakes. That was the fun part for me. :p
Fast forward to me receiving my first order for a wedding cake. In Dubai, most Filipinos who get married on civil rights in the Philippine Consulate don't go for grand reception parties unlike what we do in the Philippines. So most of them would just order a small cake.
The first wedding cake that I did is for a fellow member of my dance club in Dubai. The couple opted for the red base with black and white accents. The cake was quite simple and the couple loved it.
The second order that I received is for a friend of a friend. This is the first time I made human fondant topper. Human is my weakness. I am not that advanced yet so I would settle for cartoonized figures.
This is not a cake but an anniversary cake for my couple friends. The girl just wanted yellow and green and gave me full reign on the design.

Aaahh. This cake. My cousin ordered this cake from me for her couple friends who love badminton. The top tier was painted because it was difficult to obtain a royal blue using my gel colors. But I think it came our great. Second time to make wedding toppers. Am I improving? LOL.
For this one, the brider gave me full reign on te design as well. All she wanted was to incorporate the gold and magenta motif. In here, I tried the scalloped look on the designs but made the mistake of letting the circles dry so it was kind of difficult to stick on the cake. Another requirement of the bride is to make sure that the wedding toppers wear Chucks! They got married with Chucks on so she wanted that incorporated in the toppers. Well, I did not disappoint. :D
The most recent wedding cake I had an honor to make, pastel themed wedding cake. On the first tier is a simple ruffled heart and design on the top tier was the couples name with LOVE written as the same color of the tier itself. The flowers are real. Hahaha.. I thought of adding it at the last minute. Don't worry, the flowers are not touching the cake at all. I used technique I found online by Susan Katcher Cake Decorating w/ Fresh Flowers.
I wish that one day, I'll get an order to create a beautiful multi-tiered cake. But for now, I'm happy with what I have created.
